FAQS
-
Step into VR “Virtual Reality” a computer-generated world where your mission is simple: escape before time runs out.
Strap on a headset and enter immersive worlds full of puzzles, action, and surprises. Whether you’re into high energy challenges or brain-bending riddles, there’s something for everyone. Best of all, you’re free to move around and can see and interact with your teammates, just like in real life.
It’s everything you love about escape rooms, without the limits of the real world.
-
Currently, our VR escape rooms support up to 4 players at a time. You’ll be able to see, talk to, and interact with your teammates as you explore and escape together.
Coming soon: we’re expanding to support up to 6 players, so even bigger teams can join the adventure. Stay tuned!
-
Our VR escape games are designed for players aged 10 and up when accompanied by an adult. For supervised groups, the minimum age is 12+.
Anyone under 16 must have a responsible adult (16+) present in the room, though that adult doesn’t need to participate. Players under 16 must not be left unsupervised.
Players younger than 10 may be allowed at the discretion and risk of the accompanying adult, depending on the child’s maturity and ability to engage with the experience.
-
Not at all! You don’t need any gaming experience, technical knowledge, or special skills to enjoy our VR escape rooms.
If you can work as a team, communicate, and enjoy solving puzzles, you’re all set. We’ll guide you through everything you need to know before the game starts and our staff are always on hand if you need help during the experience.
Just bring your curiosity and a sense of adventure!
-
Most of our games aren’t scary, but everyone experiences things differently so we include a Scare Factor rating (1–5) on each game as a rough guide:
1 – Not scary at all
2 – Slight tension or atmosphere
3 – Some jumpy moments
4 – Spookier themes and mild scares
5 – Reserved for intense horror (none of our games are rated 5… yet!)
This is just a guide, what feels mild to one person might feel intense to another. If you’re unsure, just ask! We’re happy to help you choose the right game for your group.

-
Absolutely! If you need to reschedule, please contact us at least 24 hours in advance. We’ll do our best to accommodate your request.
-
Yes, you can add an extra player to your booking if space is available. We can take payment at the venue, please note that we cannot lower the price of the initial booking if guests can no longer make it.
-
We recommend arriving on time to fully enjoy the experience. If you’re significantly late, your game time may be shortened to avoid inconveniencing other players.
-
Many people with claustrophobia or anxiety are still able to enjoy our VR escape rooms, but it really depends on the individual. While you’re wearing a headset, you’re in a virtual space that can feel immersive, but you're never physically trapped, and you can remove the headset at any time.
We recommend letting our staff know ahead of time so we can help you choose a suitable experience and support you throughout. Games with open spaces and lower scare factors are usually the best starting point.
Your comfort and safety are our priority—feel free to come in, try the headset, and see how it feels before committing to a full game.
-
Wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. You may need to move around and explore during the game. No high heels as we have a soft foam floor.
-
Yes, to an extent.
Our venue has a small step at the entrance due to the building’s listed status, but we can provide a ramp on request to make access easier.
Games take place in a spacious, chair-safe area, kept clear to allow freedom of movement. That said, some parts of the game may involve reaching or movement that could be more difficult depending on your mobility. Players use handheld controllers, which can be a bit awkward to manage while manoeuvring a chair.
One key consideration is spatial awareness, since your wheelchair isn’t visible in the virtual world and peripheral vision is limited, there's a chance of accidental contact with teammates.
We’re always happy to welcome wheelchair users and will do everything we can to accommodate your needs. Just keep in mind the technical limitations of VR and how they might affect your experience.
-
We recommend one of the nearby paid car parks such as Waitrose or riverside, which are a few minutes walk from us.
-
It’s very unlikely. So far, none of our players have experienced motion sickness during our games, and we don’t expect you to either.
VR sickness usually occurs when there’s a mismatch between what your eyes see and what your body feels. For example, in some VR games that use joystick movement, your vision tells you you’re walking, but your body knows you’re standing still, which can lead to nausea.
At Cybescape VR, you move naturally. If you need to walk across the room in the game, you physically walk across the room in real life too. That alignment between real and virtual movement makes the experience feel smooth, intuitive, and comfortable, minimising the chance of motion sickness.
-
Most glasses can be worn comfortably inside our VR headsets. That said, VR is generally more comfortable without glasses, so if you can wear contact lenses, we recommend them.
If you’re unsure or want to pop in and try the fit beforehand, just let us know! Very large frames might not fit perfectly, but we’ll always do our best to accommodate.
-
Yes, for safety reasons, there are a few situations where we do not allow players to participate:
Pregnant players – Due to the small risk of falling or accidental contact with other players, we do not permit participation during pregnancy. Anyone who chooses to play against this advice does so entirely at their own risk.
Players with broken limbs or mobility-restricting injuries – VR involves physical movement, and injuries may increase the risk of discomfort or further harm.
Anyone with a history of seizures or photosensitive epilepsy – VR can potentially trigger symptoms, and we advise against playing in these cases.
If you have any health concerns or special requirements, please get in touch, we’re happy to chat and help you decide what’s best.
-
Generally, no, we don’t offer spectator viewing during games, as we like to give players the freedom to focus and enjoy the experience without distractions.
However, if you’re a parent or carer accompanying the group, we do have a small seating area where you’re welcome to wait comfortably while they play.
